Centre d’aide et de soutien aux intervenants et organismes en petite enfance (CASIOPE)

Supported by the Foundation from 2008 to 2010

CasiopeCASIOPE is a social enterprise that has been providing support for early childhood practitioners and organizations throughout Quebec since 2008. Its activities are, in fact, the continuation of those started by the Centre d'aide en petite enfance (CAPE), a showcase project supported by the Foundation until 2007.

The organization's primary objective is to improve the competency of early childhood practitioners by:

  • consolidating and developing practitioners' knowledge and skills in the area of child development
  • actively supporting children with challenges and their parents in order to promote each child's optimal development, psychosocial adaptation and entry into the school system
  • improving the educational quality of children's living environments.

CASIOPE is also recognized as being a leading distributor of knowledge transfer tools and complementary service provider in the area of intervention and support for actors working with young children and their parents.

Its main activities include:

  • Consultation service (post-training, professional development support, intervention tools and programs)
  • Training offer adapted to specific environments (e.g.: support for children with challenges)
  • Development and distribution of tools, programs and good practices in cooperation with partners dedicated to the improvement of early childhood services.

CASIOPE has had a real impact on developing a feeling of competence in practitioners and a significant impact on the development of children. The organization has become an invaluable resource for early childhood practitioners.

The leverage created by the Foundation's support has encouraged the organization to continue and further develop its activities, thereby ensuring that the expertise and the network developed by CAPE will not be lost.

Today, CASIOPE offers its services to many organizations across Quebec and has more than 75 members (CPEs [childcare centres], private daycare centres, coordinating offices for home childcare providers, CPE associations and community organizations) that benefit from preferred rates and certain services free of charge.
