The Foundation’s Mission in Brief

Our mission is to prevent poverty. To achieve that aim, we have chosen to focus on the educational success of young Quebecers by helping them to develop their full potential from conception to age 17, and by helping to set up environments that meet their needs as well as those of their families.

Our primary focus is the educational success of young Quebecers, enabling them to become independent, fulfilled parents who will be able to create a culture of personal and collective success within their family and social circle. For the Foundation, “educational success” implies the development of each child’s full potential from a very early age to ensure he or she becomes an educated, qualified, interpersonally competent adult with a healthy lifestyle.

A study has shown that there is a definite link between having a high-school diploma and the health and well-being of the Quebec population. We believe that taking action early on —helping children develop a healthy lifestyle— is the key to educational success and personal development.

Our intervention strategy consists in mobilizing local communities and raising society awareness in the following areas:

  • Promoting the optimal development (physical, psychological, cognitive and social)
of children from conception to age 17 inclusively
  • Carrying out early, sustained interventions to make sure children get off to a good start at school
  • Fostering healthy lifestyles in terms of nutrition and physical activity
  • Encouraging student retention
  • Supporting parents in their role as educators
  • Helping parents become more socially and economically independent
Our goal is to use prevention to help improve the lives of those around us because, as we all know, an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure!
