Although the social economy and community action work hard to counter the underlying causes of poverty and exclusion, they cannot bring about significant change on their own. In cooperation with the public and private economy, however, they can form the base of a multifaceted development strategy that can enhance the common assets of local communities. That is the conclusion of this in-depth analysis of 10 local intiatives aimed at combating poverty and exclusion in three regions of Quebec (Montreal, Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean and the Lower St. Lawrence)

On October 18, the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation was awarded Outstanding Achievement for excellence in the design, development and implementation of the Naître et Grandir website.

The honor, granted by the Interactive Media Awards, recognizes that the project met and surpassed the standards of excellence that comprise the web's most professionnal work. The judging consisted of various criteria, including design, usabiliity, innovation in technical features, standards compliance and content. In order to win this award level, the site had to meet strict guidelines in each area - an achievement only a fraction of sites in the IMA competition earn each year.



Release of the Early Years Study 3

To mark the simultaneous release of the Canada-wide Early Years Study 3 (EYS3) in Montreal and Toronto on November 22nd, the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation, which has supported this study since its first edition en 1999, enlisted three Quebec early childhood  experts to give their opinions on it.
