Q.1   What types of projects are currently funded by the Foundation?

The Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation is currently not funding any new projects.

Over the past few years, in partnership with the Quebec government, the Foundation has played an active role in launching three independant organizations, to which it has made major financial contributions: the Fund for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, the Early childhood development fund and the initiative to promote student retention. At the moment, funds available for endowment projects are totally invested in these partnerships. The total allocated annual amount is $54 million.

These three initiatives are the result of a careful consideration based on the experience acquired during the foundation’s first years of activity. Indeed, the Foundation supported numerous projects which allowed validating the new orientation. Overall, about $250 million were invested. At present, the Foundation manages another internal portfolio of about sixty projects and most of them will fall due by the end of 2012.

If the Foundation is not funding any new projects, these initiatives, however, are currently accepting, or preparing to accept in the coming months, applications for funding.

Q.3   I would like to volunteer for the Foundation. How should I proceed?

We thank you for your interest in the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation. However, we do not use volunteers in the course of our activities. We suggest you offer your services to the Volunteer Bureau of Montreal.

Q.4   How can I make a donation to the Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation?

Although the Foundation is a registered charitable organization and could therefore issue tax receipts for donations, we do not solicit donations or conduct public fundraising campaigns, nor do we accept financial contributions for our projects or those of our partners. info@fondationchagnon.org.

Q.5   Is the Fund to support informal caregivers connected to Foundation activities?

No. There are no ties between the Foundation’s activities and the Fund, created on November 23rd, 2009, to support informal caregivers. This was, in fact, a one-off contribution made directly by the Chagnon family, not the Foundation.
