Project Funding Policy
The Lucie and André Chagnon Foundation is currently not funding any new projects.
Over the past few years, in partnership with the Quebec government, the Foundation has played an active role in launching three independant organizations, to which it has made major financial contributions: the Fund for the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, the Early childhood development fund and the initiative to promote student retention. At the moment, funds available for endowment projects are totally invested in these partnerships. The total allocated annual amount is $54 million.
These three initiatives are the result of a careful consideration based on the experience acquired during the foundation’s first years of activity. Indeed, the Foundation supported numerous projects which allowed validating the new orientation. Overall, about $250 million were invested. At present, the Foundation manages another internal portfolio of about sixty projects and most of them will fall due by the end of 2012.
If the Foundation is not funding any new projects, these initiatives, however, are currently accepting, or preparing to accept in the coming months, applications for funding.
