OUR CONVICTIONS
The individual is the focus of all our projects because we at the foundation believe that individuals, whatever their condition, are the architects of their own health, that of their families and, by extension, that of the communities in which they live. Good health is a person’s greatest asset. If well managed, good health can be handed down from generation to generation and constitutes an asset essential to the development and improvement of community well-being. For this to be possible, everyone must be informed, empowered, and given support and responsibility, so that he or she makes the right choices and takes the right steps for his or her own personal development.

In this respect, it seems crucial to intervene in the first few years of a child’s life in order to mould behaviour and enable the acquisition of skills and attitudes essential to the development of good health. The family is therefore the cornerstone of our actions. We believe that it is through the family that we can maximize the benefits of our actions and obtain the greatest long-term impact on society.

This means that the foundation works not only with individuals, but also with their families and support systems, through players and organizations active in the community and in society in general.

THE FIGHT AGAINST POVERTY IS MAJOR CONCERN: The foundation cannot be satisfied with attending solely to the devastating consequences of poverty on people and society. We want to tackle the root causes of this problem in order to reduce the impact of social inequalities on health. We intend to pursue new initiatives aimed at breaking the vicious circle of poverty. In doing so, we will examine the various facets of this complex problem in a new light and draw on the expertise and experience of community players and organizations who share our vision.
COMPREHENSIVE SOLUTIONS ADAPTED TO NEEDS: The foundation believes that an individual’s health depends on a whole series of factors — not just biological, but also psychological and social — that act together in synergy to strengthen or weaken one another. That is why the foundation favours projects that take a systemic approach in addressing all of the many facets of the health of an individual within the human, social and material environment.
INDIVIDUAL AND COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT AS A GUARANTEE OF SUCCESS: The foundation believes that getting individuals and communities to take responsibility for themselves is the point of departure for building or rebuilding the health chain. Every individual must be made to realize that he or she holds personal, decisive power over his or her physical, mental and social health. It is the proliferation of the actions of informed, empowered individuals who are given appropriate support and responsibility that provide the thrust for collective initiatives that can really change things in society over the long term. The projects initiated by the foundation are designed to respect the principles that underlie empowerment — of both the individual and the community.
